It depends on your diffuser, the intensity grade you choose and how many hours a day it runs. The times below are for 8 hours a day on intensity grade 7. On most of our diffusers, grade 7 means the diffuser releases mist for 30 seconds, then pauses for 60 seconds, repeating through those 8 hours. On the Dr Mini, grade 7 means 3 seconds of mist every 6 minutes.

What does each intensity grade mean, and how much oil does it use?

• Dr Mini: 170 ml (about 5 months).
• Elegant, Eco Tulip, Home Scent: start with 170 ml if you're trying a new scent, or choose 500 ml (about 4 months) for better value per ml.
• Dr Medium, Mini Standalone, Standalone: start with 500 ml if you're trying a new scent, or choose 1000 ml (about 4 months) for better value per ml.

The 1000 ml bottle is the best value at $0.32 per ml, against $0.44 per ml for 170 ml.

Our aroma oils are made for waterless (cold-air) diffusers. For the best performance we highly recommend Dr Scent diffusers, which are built and tuned for our oils. Pour the oil straight into the diffuser's oil bottle and never add water.

Not for car diffusers. Car scents have a different oil concentration, and using a home oil in a car diffuser can damage the way it diffuses. For the car, use our 10 ml car scents.

A concentrated fragrance oil made to IFRA Standards, alcohol-free and cruelty-free, with fragrance oils sourced from the UK. It's made for diffusing only: not for skin, cooking or drinking.

Everyone reacts to fragrance differently. Start on the lowest intensity in a ventilated room and increase slowly. If you have allergies or asthma, check with your doctor first. Keep oils out of reach of children and pets.

Run the diffuser until the bottle is empty, or pour the old oil back into its own bottle. Wipe the oil bottle with a dry paper towel, then fill it with the new scent. A faint trace of the old scent may linger for about a day, but you'll barely smell it.

If the spill is on or around the diffuser, unplug it from the power first. Then wipe the oil up straight away with paper towel and clean the surface with a little rubbing alcohol. The oil is concentrated, so test on a hidden spot first on painted, varnished or plastic surfaces.

Every bottle has a best-before date on its label. Keep the cap tight, out of direct sun and away from heat.

We don't recommend it. Each blend is balanced on its own, and mixing can change how it smells and diffuses.
